Volunteer Highlight
San Antonio State Hospital
San Antonio State Hospital honored therapy team Robyn and Scotty. They had been making a difference at SASH since 2014, recording 320 volunteer hours and traveling 13,280 miles to share their time and talents with patients. Due to Scotty’s age of 14 years and his health, he retired—but not before SASH gave him a happy retirement party, its first for a therapy dog. Robyn continues the work at SASH with her therapy dog Luna.

Paws 4 Hearts was featured twice by the American Kennel Club, appearing initially in the May–June 2019 print edition of AKC Family Dog Magazine under the title “Bright Spots.” The organization was subsequently highlighted in an online digital spotlight article published on the official AKC website in February 2020.

Paws 4 Hearts
Paws 4 Hearts awarded its Memorial Scholarship to Ashley Saddler and Rebecca Ward, selected for their outstanding academic and community achievements. The scholarship was created in memory of Wendy Larrabee, one of Paws 4 Hearts’ founders and most dedicated members. These two young women have bright futures ahead, and Paws 4 Hearts is glad to be part of them.

Spring Branch business trains dogs to really be man's best friend

Paws 4 Hearts Working Therapy Dogs was profiled in the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung in a story about animal therapy. The feature followed Karen Minson and Amanda White as they demonstrated how certified therapy dogs help rehabilitation patients, children, military families, nursing-home residents and reading-program participants. It also covered the organization’s six-week training class and the ways therapy dogs can support physical therapy, memory work and people living with PTSD.
